Volunteer Opportunities at CAPS Toronto

One of the best ways to get involved with CAPS Toronto is to volunteer. In fact, we’re a volunteer-driven organization. The majority of our professional development events, workshops, and programs are put together and conducted by members who donate their services.

Be a volunteer and benefit in big ways:

  • Connect: The most successful speakers are the ones who connect with their clients, colleagues and community.
  • Communicate: Gain more opportunities to learn about our membership so you can refer them and they can refer you!
  • Commit: Participate in CAPS and increase the profile and professional network.

There are many opportunities for you to get involved, from being a “greeter” at an event to joining one of our many committees.

To find out more about volunteer opportunities, please contact Adrian Davis, Chapter President, at adriand@CAPStoronto.org.

(Please note: Only CAPS members can volunteer.)

Volunteer of the Month

Patti Pokorchak, MBA – Small Business Sales & Marketing Expert

What do you speak about?
Marketing for small businesses; If I can be a farmer, then you can be anything you want to be; Living life with no regrets; How to be your own best cheerleader!

Who is your target audience?
Small businesses and entrepreneurs; people re-creating themselves and want to make their passion profitable with my proven practical advice.

What is unique about you or your topic?
Not many MBA farmers around. I went from high tech exec city slicker to starting Down to Earth Gardens for novice and black thumb gardeners, which became a destination of choice for Ottawa area gardeners. It was only by using every business skill that I had (as I had no training in horticulture) that the gardens were so successful.

Why did you join CAPS?
Learn how to make $100,000+ by talking about gardening and not doing it myself (according to Warren Evans who questioned my sanity when I was a farmer).

What made you decide to be a volunteer?
You get out of an organization what you put into it. By volunteering, you get to become so much better known to others rather than staying as wallflower on the outskirts of the events.

What have you personally received by being a member or volunteer?
Great new friends and meeting amazing people. Having an even more positive outlook in life due to being around so many ‘can-do’ people.

One piece of advice you would give to other CAPS members:
Just volunteer more!
